Direct Routing allows you to connect Microsoft Teams to your own telecommunication system. It’s a seamless process, giving you centralised control and management of calls within your Office 365 portal. There are a lot of misconceptions out there about Direct Routing for Microsoft Teams, and we understand that the process can be a little confusing, so we want to make it as simple as possible for you by discussing some of the most frequent assumptions and busting those myths once and for all.
Misconception 1: ‘It will cost my business more’
One of the most common myths about Direct Routing for Microsoft Teams is that it will end up costing your business more. You can put your mind at rest because Direct Routing is considerably less expensive than Microsoft’s Calling Plan. At V12 we price our Direct Routing service per user, making things as simple and as cost-effective as possible for your business. All our contracts provide fully inclusive, unlimited UK minutes, using 12, 24 or 36-month contracts.
Misconception 2: ‘I’ll still need telephone handsets’
You won’t need handsets. Your users are able to use the softphone option via a smartphone, or have a headset connected to their computer. For those users who want to keep their telephone handset, that’s not a problem. We will work closely with you to make sure the transition to Direct Routing is as smooth as possible by leaving the mix of users to you.
Misconception 3: ‘Everyone will need the same licence’
It’s often assumed that all users need the same Office 365 licence. However, one of the unique things about Direct Routing is that you can pick an Office 365 licence to suit each of your user’s needs. Some of your employees might not need to dial externally or internationally, in which case you can choose smaller licences. This feature is extremely cost-effective for businesses, as you only pay for what you need. Your licences are also flexible, so you can move them between different users if work conditions or employees change.
Misconception 4: ‘We don’t need Microsoft Teams, we have Skype for Business’
Skype for Business is set to be discontinued in 2021, so it’s a good idea to start looking for alternatives. We believe that Direct Routing is the most practical alternative. We’ll work with you to understand your business requirements to help you get the collaboration and conferencing tools you need, and to make sure you get the most out of Microsoft Teams through Direct Routing.
